Love Rock Band? Love Clark Hall Pub? The answer to that is obvious, so come out to Clark on March 9th to participate in ThankQ's second annual ROCK THE GIFT! Rock the Gift is a Rock Band tournament held in support of the graduating class gift back to Queen's. It was such a success last year that we're doing it again!
Get a team of 3 or 4 friends together and sign up to participate. All teams must have at least 3 different instruments within their band. Teams will be judged based on their crowd appeal (costumes anyone?), the amount of money they raise before and during the event, and, of course, your superior Rock Band playing skills. The winning team will not only get money donated towards their faculty's class gift, but a LASER BLAST PARTY for you and your friends!
Registration is open to ALL YEARS (you must be 19+ though because the event is held at Clark) and is $10 per team. Sci '10 REALLY wants to see everyone out there having fun though, so we're going to pay for the FIRST THREE TEAMS TO REGISTER! For more information, or to register, send an email to sci10@engsoc.queensu.ca with the names and emails of all team members. It promises to be a great night so don't miss out!
Come out to the main gym in the ARC on Saturday March 13 from 10:30am – 7pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet new people, be active, compete, and have lots of fun! All proceeds go to the Kingston Humane Society to help care for animals in need. Your donation could save an animal’s life! For more information, please visit http://www.kingstonhumanesociety.ca. The cost is ONLY $8 per person and every player on the winning team will receive an $8 gift certificate for the Tea Room, so the tournament will cost you nothing if you win! Each team will play 3 x 30 minute games spaced out throughout the day. The entire schedule will be released by 5pm Friday March 12.
To register, come to the ILC room 104 (i.e. the “fishbowl”) during one of the following times:
Monday March 8: 2:30 – 4:30pm
Tuesday March 9: 2:30 - 4:30pm
Wed. March 10: 1:30 – 3:30pm
Thur. March 11: 11:30am – 1:30pm
Friday March 12: 1:30 – 2:30pm
Submit your name, email address, and $8 registration fee. Sign up as an individual, as a team, or as a small group. Your entire group/team does not need to sign up at the same time – just tell us the names of the other players and we will register you with the correct players. we hope to have 10 players per team, so individuals may be added to teams or small groups. If you have any questions, please contact Meryl at 6mem@queensu.ca.
There’s lots going on this week. It’s your chance to come out and run/apply for positions in so many different areas of the Engineering Society and more. Don’t miss out on these amazing opportunities to get involved and have fun in 2010-2011.
