The Conference on Industry and Resources: Queen's University
Engineering (CIRQUE) is an annual conference that highlights the diversity of
an engineering degree and introduces students to a variety of opportunities in
industry. Motivational speakers, great venues, and outstanding networking
opportunities make this conference a unique experience.
CIRQUE is looking for two enthusiastic and organized
individuals to be the next CIRQUE co-chairs! Applications are available online
at www.queenscirque.com or in
the EngSoc lounge. If you have any questions about applying, please email cirque@engsoc.queensu.ca. All
applications should be submitted to the EngSoc mailbox or emailed to CIRQUE by Friday,
Mar. 5 at 5:30 pm.
The Queen's University Engineers Without Borders chapter
will be holding a Fair Trade Bake Sale to raise funds for our summer overseas
volunteer! Each baked good you buy is made with at least one fairly
traded or locally produced ingredient, so you can feel good about having one
(or more!) of our delicious treats.
The Bake Sale will run from 10 am to 3 pm on Thursday, March 4th and Friday
March 5th in Mac-Corry Hall. Stop buy for some excellent baking and to
learn a little bit more about EWB, Fair Trade and our chapter's work! Hope to
see you out!
Love Rock Band? Love Clark Hall Pub? The answer to that is
obvious, so come out to Clark on March 9th to
participate in ThankQ's second annual ROCK
THE GIFT! Rock the Gift is a Rock Band tournament held in
support of the graduating class gift back to Queen's. It was such a success
last year that we're doing it again!
Get a team of 3 or 4 friends together and sign up to
participate. All teams must have at least 3 different instruments within their
band. Teams will be judged based on their crowd appeal (costumes anyone?), the
amount of money they raise before and during the event, and, of course, your
superior Rock Band playing skills. The winning team will not only get money
donated towards their faculty's class gift, but a LASER BLAST PARTY for you and your friends!
Registration is open to ALL
YEARS (you must be 19+ though because the event is held at
Clark) and is $10 per team. Sci '10 REALLY wants to see everyone out there
having fun though, so we're going to pay for the FIRST THREE TEAMS TO REGISTER!
For more information, or to register, send an email to sci10@engsoc.queensu.ca with
the names and emails of all team members.
Do you want to get involved around Queen’s? Do you have an
interest in organizing events? Queen’s Engineering society is looking for a new
Conferences Coordinator!
This position involves working with the chairs of multiple
conferences to help to make them a success. You will help the chairs in the
promotion of their conferences, while providing feedback and constructive
criticism on the entire organization process- from team management all the way
through to finances and marketing. This is a great opportunity to meet other
students and industry leaders from companies across North America.
Applications are available in the EngSoc Lounge across from
the Tearoom, or online at www.engsoc.queensu.ca/applications/. Applications
are due Thursday March 11th at 5:30 pm. Please submit them to the EngSoc Mailbox in
the Lounge in the ILC, or to the After Hours Dropbox outside the Lounge.
Any questions, please contact Ed Watson, VP (Student
Development) vpsd@engsoc.queensu.ca
or Douglas Haney, VP (Student Development) Elect at vpsd.elect@engsoc.queensu.ca.
Good luck on the rest of your term, only six weeks left now J
