With the end of the term and the holiday season upon us, this is the last newsletter that will be sent in 2009. There are only a couple of topic for this one: 1. Upcoming EngSoc Executive Elections 2. Apply for Queen’s Engineering Competition --- 1. Executive Election 2010 Executive Elections 2010 Want to be in charge of the best Society Executive on campus? Well you too can run to be on the Engineering Society 2010-2011 Executive team. Nomination period is open January 11th, 2010 and goes until January 20th, 2010 at 5:30 pm. You can pick up a nomination package in the Engineering Society Lounge when you get back from the holidays. Queen's Engineering Competition The Queen's Engineering Competition (QEC) deadline has been extended to Wednesday January 13th 2010 (the first week back). The theme this year is Assault on Herstmonceux Castle! Both Juniors (1st and 2nd year's) and Seniors (3rd and 4th year's) will be given their unique challenge details upon arrival. The competition will be held on Saturday January 16 2010 from 10:00 am until about 3:00 pm. Team tee shirts, catered lunch + snacks, tools, and supplies will be provided. The winning teams from the Junior and Senior challenges with the best performing, built, and supported design will win a trip to Waterloo to the Ontario Engineering Competition all expenses paid by your friends at EngSoc (including hotel, transportation, and meals), approx $1500 value/team. Queen's is traditionally a dominant force at OEC and even went to the national competition last year. The registration fee this year has been reduced to only 10 bucks this year. Come out for a day of building, designing, and competition with friends, also looks sick on a resume. Pick up a registration form from the EngSoc lounge in the ILC or download from the link below. Register in teams of 4, provide cool team name, ten bucks each, and return form & money to the EngSoc mailbox in the ILC.
