Happy Holidays!
With Christmas just around the corner and the busiest semester yet just behind us, the team is enjoying a well deserved rest over the holidays. Although the updates here have been sparse, the past semester has seen very strong development. The team size has doubled thanks to a successful recruitment pursuit, and new supporters are being brought on board on a seemingly weekly basis. On the technology front, significant development has resulted in weight reductions across every system, and a vehicle that is on track of meeting the team’s 450 pound, March 1st drive deadline.
The team will be releasing a mid-season report shortly; for now, we’ll give you a few teasers of the 2012 car:
That's all for now. On behalf of the entire team, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

California Dreamin'
With another month of testing and training, the Formula SAE California competition was a much more regimented event for the team than Michigan. The team had time to focus on driver training and preparation for static events, which lead to a more accurate result of the vehicle’s and team’s true ability. Some of the highlights of the competition:
15th in Cost
26th in Autocross
38th Overall
Despite a competitive standing and flawless driving car during endurance, the car failed to restart during the driver change, omitting us from earning 40% of the points designated in competition.
Although the competitive season for the vehicle is over, the car will be showcased at several events in Kingston and South-East Ontario, including the Kingston Canada Day Parade this Friday; a more comprehensive list will be posted soon. You can also expect a year-end report in the coming week reviewing the competitive season of the Q11.
We’d also like to thank our newest sponsors, Coach Canada and Kingston Norman Rogers Airport. Coach Canada provided ground transportation during the California trip, and Kingston Norman Rogers Airport provided a testing facility for our vehicle.

We’re Back! (From Michigan)
For our young team, the Michigan competition can be highlighted greatest not through our placing, but through the lessons learned. As the first experience through design, presentation, and cost events for almost the entire team, we stood strong and greatly appreciated the feedback from judges. Although there was little driver experience on the team, the car was driven strong in endurance and only got removed from the competition at driver change due to an oil leak; a typical culprit.
Despite being barely back from competition, work is already well underway improving and preparing the vehicle for the California competition in June. Data acquisition is being installed, improvements are being made to the fuel system, oil leaks are being rectified, and all-around the vehicle is being improved mechanically and cosmetically. We look forward to making FSAE California the true test of ourselves and our vehicle.

First Drive Today!
With the Michigan competition only days away, the car drove for the first time this afternoon. Despite putting the vehicle through its paces, we encountered no mechanical issues, and just a few minor oil leaks to sort out in the coming days.
The 2011 season has been marked with stumbles and roadblocks, yet despite all that we have managed to produce a vehicle we are all proud of. We would like to thank our sponsors for all their support and making this opportunity possible! Below is a picture of the new vehicle (the Q11) in action at the Kingston Airport:

The Complete Engineer
We're excited to be featured in the winter issue of The Complete Engineer which you can check out here (page 5). The Complete Engineer is the Queen's Applied Science magazine and and we are excited to be profiled.
We have been extremely busy through the winter and spring with design finished and manufacturing nearing completion. This year we are hoping to build on our successes from last year by once again attending two competitions (FSAE Michigan and California) this year armed with a brand new aerodynamics package. We are still actively fund raising for competitions so please don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested in supporting us or finding our more information about our team.
