Frosh Week is hiring Plants and Proctors!

Want to get involved with Frosh Week?

Plants are upper years who pretend to be in first year for the first day of frosh week. This allows for the first years to see that upper years can be their friends too! This is open to any student.

Plant Application

Proctor’s are students who pretend to supervise the Standards exam but end up doing crazy things and revealing that the plants are upper year students. This is open to current second year and above students.

Both applications are due Wednesday, April 14^th, 2010 by 5:30pm in the EngSoc Mailbox in the Tom Harris Student Lounge (across from the Tearoom). If you have any questions feel free to contact the Orientation Chair, Claire Wunker, at oc@engsoc.queensu.ca.

The Engineering Review Board was created to analyze the policies and state of the affairs of the Engineering Society and to make recommendations regarding improvements therein. The Board also acts as the primary Engineering Society dispute resolution body. Hiring Chief Marketing Officer

The EngSoc Chief Marketing Officer is head of the EngSoc Marketing Office. The CMO will be in charge of the Office’s efforts to better market the Society and its Services, as well as the external contact for all clients of the marketing office. The CMO will be in charge of delegating tasks to the various marketing officers, ensuring deadlines are met, and any client billing. The CMO will report directly to the Vice-President (Society Affairs).

Applications for the CMO position are available online and in the EngSoc Lounge, and due by 5:30 PM on Thursday, March 18th. Submit applications to the mailbox in the EngSoc Lounge, directly across from the Tearoom in the ILC.

Sci ‘13, Pick your Latin Motto

Now that we’re approaching that time when the first years can finally put bars on their jackets, it’s important to pick a Latin Motto for the year.

The Latin Motto will be voted on prior to the Sci ‘13 year executive elections on Wednesday March 10th at 6:30pm. Come out with ideas for a motto. Don’t worry about translating it into Latin yet. Your new year executive can take care of that part. Just come out with some cool ideas for the words that your year will live by. If you want some ideas check out the list of past mottos here.

Members of the ENGSOC Board of Directors (BoD) are elected each year at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Interested applicants have the opportunity to apply for a nomination from the incoming ENGSOC President. If you are at all interested in the governance of the services and the society you should consider applying for this nomination. Applications are available here (Application Form) and are due on Thursday March 17^th at 5:30pm.
